Touching Bases - October Edition

Rockin' Rookie
THE A's ROOKIE OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE JEMILE WEEKS
TOOK SOME TIME TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM A's KIDS CLUB MEMBERS
Q: Are there any good luck rituals you perform before a game?
A: I listen to music and say a prayer before games.
Q: Did you always want to be a professional baseball player?
A: Yes. I either wanted to play baseball or be a businessman.
Q: What would you be doing if you weren't playing baseball?
A: I'd be an entrepreneur or trying to run a business. The business would involve baseball, but if not that, then maybe clothing.
Q: Who was your favorite player when you were a kid?
A: Roberto Alomar was my favorite player. I liked his style of play both defensively and offensively. He was the most exciting player to watch.
Q: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not playing baseball?
A: When I have free time I like to chill. I enjoy going to the movies or watching movies at home. I listen to music. I also use my free time to return phone calls to my family members.

Jemile Weeks, A's Rookie second baseman, had a breakout season even though he wasn't called up until June. Weeks led AL Rookies in Batting Average and triples. He was tied for 2nd in stolen bases and 3rd in number of hits and doubles.
